HOW IT WORKS

From a list of candidates
to a track you can teach.

You know the church and the people being trained. Hokmah drafts the material around that, for you to examine before each class.

  1. Name the track

    Usually the class or cohort, such as Elders 2026 or Deacons, Group A, so you can find it again in My Hokmah.

  2. Choose the training type

    General Foundation, or one of the five specialized tracks. Everyone takes the same eight foundational sessions.

  3. Describe the church

    Size, current season, denominational background, the depth you want and the confessional layer, plus any notes of your own.

  4. Generate the overview, then each session

    The overview gives the objective, the profile and context, the full list of sessions, recommendations for you and a notice about your church documents. Then generate the sessions one at a time.

These eight sessions come in every track, whoever is being trained. They deal with the leader before they deal with the role, because a church suffers when the order is reversed.

The material is written as formation, not as evaluation, and keeps away from moralism and from corporate management language.

  1. Central theme in one sentence.
  2. Base text, with its reading and brief context, and what it says about leadership.
  3. Essential doctrine, with implications for leaders.
  4. Pastoral principle for every leader in this church.
  5. Practical application, three or four, for the size and season of the church.
  6. Reflection questions: at least five, including one for self-assessment.
  7. Exercise or assignment before the next session.
  8. Guidance for you: the objective, likely resistance, mistakes to avoid and how to keep a tone of formation.

Which leaders can I train with it?

There are six tracks: a General Foundation for everyone, and specialized tracks for elders, deacons, youth leaders, Sunday School teachers and small group leaders.

How many sessions does a track have?

The General Foundation has eight sessions. Each specialized track has twelve: the same eight sessions everyone takes, plus four on that specific ministry.

Does it take our church into account?

Yes. You give the size of the church, its current season, your denominational background and the depth you want, and that shapes the tone and emphases. Before an election, for example, the track stresses character before office and warns against ambition. In a season of conflict, it works toward humility and reconciliation.

Does it replace our constitution or bylaws?

No. The material states it plainly: for formal requirements on election and ordination, consult your church's own constitution or bylaws.

Does it work for Reformed Baptist churches?

Yes. Choose Reformed Baptist as the denominational background and the London Baptist Confession (1689) as the confessional layer, or keep the track to Scripture only.
