SMALL GROUP CURRICULUM

Small group meetings your leaders can actually lead.

Hokmah Expositor plans a closed cycle of six, eight or ten sessions from the vision you describe, and writes each meeting as a script the leader can follow, from the welcome to the closing prayer.

HOW IT WORKS

From a group with no plan
to a cycle with a destination.

You know the group and why it exists. Hokmah turns that into a cycle for you to examine before handing it to the leader.

  1. Describe the vision and context

The spiritual vision for the group, who is in it, the need you have noticed, the goal for the cycle, the season of the church and the maturity and history of the group.

  2. Set the cycle

Six, eight or ten sessions, of 60, 75, 90 or 120 minutes, weekly or every two weeks.

  3. Choose the confessional layer

Keep the sessions to Scripture alone, or add explicit references to the Westminster Confession or the 1689 London Baptist Confession.

  4. Generate the cycle, then each session

The cycle vision gives the title, the pastoral summary, the spiritual objective, the progression of all the sessions and guidance for the leader. Then generate the sessions one at a time.

A CLOSED CYCLE

Every meeting builds
on the one before.

A cycle has a beginning and an end, so the group knows where it is going and when it arrives. Each session carries its place in the progression, and the material says which part of the cycle it belongs to.

The sessions are written to keep Christ at the center and to grow week by week, with grace before moralism.

Sessions quote the English Standard Version.

  • Session 1: IntroductionOpening of the cycle, diagnosis and shared vision, with a lighter and more relational start.
  • Middle sessions: DevelopmentProgressive and cumulative, each one building on the previous week.
  • Second to last: ConsolidationIntegrating the themes the group has worked through.
  • Last session: SendingA recap of the journey, a concrete mission challenge, a pastoral sending prayer and a plan for what the group does next.

INSIDE EVERY SESSION

A script the leader
can follow.

When you choose a confession, the exposition also carries one confessional reference applied to the session.

The meeting, step by step

With the time each part takes

  1. Theme of the night and the spiritual purpose of the meeting.
  2. Welcome and hospitality. 5 min
  3. Intentional icebreaker, tied to the theme, never generic. 5 to 10 min
  4. Central Bible text, with a suggested reading aloud.
  5. Brief and faithful exposition, illuminating the text for the group. 10 to 15 min
  6. Progressive open questions: observation, interpretation and application.
  7. Practical application for the life of the group. 5 to 10 min
  8. Guided prayer time by topics: thanksgiving, confession, intercession and commitment. 10 min
  9. Challenge for the week, simple, specific and doable.

What it is not

The material is written to avoid four traps

  • Not a mini sermon transcribed for a living room.
  • Not a Sunday School class.
  • Not group therapy.
  • Not self-help language dressed in Bible verses.

BEFORE THE GROUP MEETS

A script,
not a substitute.

Hokmah generates the cycle with AI. It can misread a text or get a reference wrong, and it knows only what you tell it about the group.

  • You check interpretations, references and confessional citations before handing the material to the leader.
  • You can export the sessions you have generated as a PDF.
  • Your cycle is saved and can be renamed, so you can come back and keep generating the sessions.
  • It does not lead the meeting. The leader still prepares and shepherds the people in the room.
  • It does not know what happened in the group last week.
  • It does not replace your study or your pastoral judgment.

Hokmah prepares the draft. The pastor and the leader remain responsible for the meeting.

How long is a cycle?

You choose 6, 8 or 10 sessions, with 60, 75, 90 or 120 minutes each, meeting weekly or every two weeks.

Does the cycle follow a progression?

Yes. The first session opens the cycle with diagnosis and shared vision, the middle sessions build on one another, the second to last consolidates what was learned, and the last one is a sending, with a concrete mission challenge and a pastoral prayer.

What does the leader receive for each session?

A full script: welcome, an icebreaker tied to the theme, the base text with a reading, a brief exposition, questions for observation, interpretation and application, a practical application for the life of the group, a guided prayer time by topics, and a challenge for the week.

Is it a Bible study or a short sermon?

Neither. The material is built as fellowship, Word, application and prayer, and it is written to avoid turning the meeting into a mini sermon, a Sunday School class, group therapy or self-help talk.

Does it work for Reformed Baptist churches?

Yes. Choose the London Baptist Confession (1689) or the Westminster Confession as the confessional layer, or keep the cycle to Scripture only.

Is it free?

You can start free with limited use and no credit card. Paid plans remove the limit and sync your work to your account.
